Hold on tight to the handle on the wall beside this squat toilet. When flushing, look down to catch a fleeting glimpse of the tracks below. The steel tray is standard issue on a Chinese train, regardless of class. All waste is immediately expelled onto the tracks, so using the toilet while stopped at a station is strictly forbidden. The advantage of the track flush is twofold: there are no tanks to empty, and people avoid the train tracks.
